I didn’t think I liked Stacey Dooley, but turns out if she’s making a documentary, I absolutely want to watch it.

Tonight I have been watching her meet ‘TradWives’; women who choose to be subservient to their husbands.
Stacey approached the weekend ready to free these oppressed women from their lives of slavery.
She found (by her own omission) women who are happy. 😱
That, in my opinion, is the trouble with what people think of as ‘feminism’. Apparently everyone assumes feminists want all women to be CEOs and Presidents as the only way they’ll be happy.
Thats not what feminism means to me at all.
These women CHOOSE to be subservient to their husbands.
I CHOSE to give up my career for 10 years to be at home with my kids. I absolutely loved it (ok I was a bit bored some of the time). I dont regret a single moment.
People think feminism is about women thinking they are better than men. Thats not it all. When I was introduced to the feminist movement someone told me “people think we hate men. We dont! We love men!”
It’s about choice.
We just want the same opportunities that men automatically have. Choice.
I love the TradWive movement. Let them obey their husbands for as long as makes them happy.
‘For as long as makes them happy’ being the key.
Obey your husbands or partners, until their demands are unreasonable, or you’re no longer happy, then discuss as equals to reach a compromise or leave. A situation where a person is expected to stay subservient if they do not want to, or it is detrimental to their physical or mental health is abuse. Surely most modern human beings believe that. I really hope thats not my naivety.
Feminism to me is about choice. And having equal opportunities to enact choice.
Thats feminism.
Its not a dirty word.
